Waste at WI Dept. of Corrections

Phillip Trostel in the State Journal
  • points out
  • that Wisconsin's per inmate spending is 40% above the national average. Im not even saying this should be spent on education, or health care, frankly Im not sure what I would do with $300 million dollars. The State could begin to pay down its debt.

I guess Im just sick of Legislative Republicans posing for holy pictures when it comes to waste at the University system which is far less than Corrections. Its easy to bash the University as elitist, far-left, and from (gasp!) Madison. To question unexpalained spending in the prisons would be soft on crime.

I can tell you stories of waste!
Such as at Kettle Moraine "correctional" where in April of 2007 new equipment they didn't need was busted up in the boxes and thrown out.
Elderly who are a huge medical expense in corrections are increasing in large nos. If we paroled them and they got their social security they would be off the wi. taxpayers back. Dept. of Corruption doesn't want that. They want to figure out how the elderly could get s.s and be in a secure nursing home!!!!!Gotta keep control of those dangerous elderly.
Correctional facilities get $$$ for everyone who signs up for a program such as drug and alcohol. The inmate will be bullied into signing up so the $$ rolls in but most won't take the program because they will be released before there is room for them to get in it. Sucks to be a taxpayer in this state. I quit as I don't have time to reveal all DOC's sins. It would take yearS!!!
