Is high voter turnout a good thing?

How do we increase voter turnout? How do we get young people to vote? Well, do really want to?

Many nations give you a national holiday on election day. Arizona instituted a lottery for one lucky voter. Personally, I dont want people that dont care enough to take a few minutes out of they're day to decide the fate of the country, and I certainly dont want some schmuck to vote for no other reason than to win the lottery.

It is popular to say that we have low voter turnout because were so appalled by the negative ads and our do nothing representatives. yeah, piss off. Any political scientist can tell you negative ads number one- work and number two- dont have a depressive effect. If you tell me you are not politically active because you are so turned off by the process, again Im calling bullshit. It has been demonstrated over and over that the more knowledgeable you are about government the more active you are. If you arent voting, chances are it is because you dont have a clue.

If you are a citizen of legal age and not a felon you absolutely have the right to vote. But you dont deserve special privileges. Why do we bend over backwards for students and give them same day registration opening up the system for fraud? They have the exact same "rights" senior citizens do.

Right now the most informed citizens come to the polls. For whatever reason, the voter turnout fetishists wish to change this.
